Indigenous Informatics (II), a special interest group of HISA, is pleased to invite you to participate in II 2014, Australia's Indigenous Informatics Conference, to be held at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre on Monday 11 August 2014.
Australia’s ONLY Indigenous Informatics Conference builds on the continual success of this event, held every year since 2011.
Join us this year to listen to and network with our esteemed national keynotes, leaders and interested individuals. The conference will address the practical examples, the future of Indigenous health and its relationship to e-health, the use of data and the innovative use of social media in Indigenous populations. You will contribute to developing a national strategy, which will be explored in interactive roundtables with all delegates.

| Bio >> Simon Georgeff has lived and worked with the Miriuwung Gajerrong and Gija people of the East Kimberley for many years. He has worked as a youth worker in Kununurra teaching video production and running the local kids disco, managed a remote drug and alcohol rehabilitation program on Marralum community as well as assisting the School of the Air Program. Simon also had great friendships with many elders, many who have passed away now, who taught him life lessons that extend beyond cultural divides and have helped inform him in a clearer and wiser life path. Simon has a history in journalism and film, publishing in the Australian, the Age, and other media and producing documentaries of film subjects in a diverse range of environments, including Nimbin, northern Australia, and downtown Detroit. Simon studied at the Victoria College of the Arts, Melbourne. He is now working in technology development and is a participant in the open source community |
Bio >> Professor Michael Georgeff is CEO of Precedence Health Care and Adjunct Professor in the Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences at Monash University. Professor Georgeff has been at the forefront of software innovation for over 30 years. He was previously Program Director at SRI International (USA), during which time he and his team created the first software “agents”, applying these to the control of NASA’s space shuttle. Professor Georgeff is a thought leader in the application of information technology to healthcare. He was the e-Health advisor to Deloitte for Australia’s National e-Health Strategy. Professor Georgeff is a founding member of the Australian National Consultative Committee on e-Health and a member of the Health Informatics Society of Australia. He is a Fellow of the American Association for Artificial Intelligence and a Fellow of the Australian Computer Society. He received his Ph.D. from Imperial College, London. |
Bio >> Dr Leonie Katekar has over 20 years of health sector experience in a diversity of clinical and non-clinical roles. Dr Katekar was the Chief Rural Medical Practitioner and is now the Chief Clinical Information Officer for the Northern Territory Department of Health. Dr Katekar is held in high regard nationally for her leadership capabilities in delivering in e-health, particularly in the indigenous health context. |

Bio >> Jason King is a Yued Noongar GP from the Wheatbelt town of Dandaragan in Western Australia. After working in the state public health system he and his family took the road north to Broome to complete his GP training with the Kimberley Aboriginal Medical Services Council where he has combined his passion for Aboriginal health and information systems. |
Bio >> Jodie Sizer is a Djap Wurrung /Gunditjmara woman, and part of the Framlingham Community of South West Victoria. Jodie was previously the Principal Consultant and Director of Ingenuity Australia, a consulting group that provides leadership, development and project management skills to Indigenous communities. Jodie was named as Victorian Aboriginal Young Achiever in 2000, when she was working as an auditor at a big four accounting firm, and has maintained a prominent role in the Indigenous space and across broader society. Jodie has also worked in Indigenous organisations and government. She was an ATSIC Regional Councillor, a finalist in the Telstra Business Women of the Year award, listed in the Australian Women's Who's Who publication, inducted on the Victorian Women's Honour roll, recipient of the Prime Ministers Centenary medal and listed as one of the Australian Financial Review's 100 Women of Influence. |
