Conference general questions
What is HIC?
The Health Informatics Conference (HIC) is Australia's premier e-health conference. HIC will give you the opportunity to see the latest
applications and technologies, network with industry movers and shakers, learn about the latest research and developments, share experience
and ideas and meet with those who share the desire to deliver better healthcare to all.
What does the conference hope to achieve?
The conference is a major component of HISA's contribution to education and information dissemination for health
informaticians and those who share the desire to deliver better healthcare to all.
Where will the conference be held?
HIC 2014 will be held at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC), 11-14 August 2014.
What are the deadlines for abstract submission, registration and accommodation bookings?
The deadlines are as follows:
- Abstract submission:17 March 2014
- Early bird registration: 16 June 2014
- Accommodation booking: 7 July 2014
Are hotel transfers available?
All hotels listed on this website are within walking distance to the Convention Centre therefore transfers to or from hotels will not be provided.
Abstract submission questions
When do abstract submission close?
Abstract submissions for both the scientific and industry/clinical session close on 17 March 2014.
When will I be notified if my paper/abstract has been accepted?
Notification emails will be sent by 2 May 2014.
How long do presentations go for?
Each presentation is given 15 minutes including question time.
I can't login to the abstract submission portal.
Please ensure you are inputting your last name followed by your first name then the password. If you can't remember your password,
click on the forgot your password button and an email will be sent notifying you of the password.
How do I know if my paper/abstract has be submitted properly?
If you can see the paper/abstract in the View your abstract page then your abstract has loaded properly. HISA will check that your paper/abstract
meets the submission guidelines. An email will be sent confirming that your paper/abstract has been submitted or advising changes need to be
within 5 days of submission.
My paper/abstract didn't load properly.

I want to submit a paper/abstract for both the scientific and industry/clinical session.
This is fine. You will need to use the different sites (there is one for scientific and one for industry/clinical). Your login in details will be the same for both though.

When do the special rates end?
Early bird registration closes on the 16 June 2014. Standard registration closes on 4 August 2014.

How much will the conference cost?

What's included in my conference registration fee?
The conference registration includes catering for morning teas, lunches and afternoon teas. The registration also includes attendance to the
networking reception (except day registrations). You will also receive daily conference sessions with our informative and entertaining
speakers and exclusive access to the exhibition. Tickets to the gala dinner are an additional fee.
I want to book accommodation but it is past the booking date of 7 July 2014.
You will need to contract the hotel directly. Their contact details are noted on the accommodation page.
It is at the discretion of the hotel if they honour the conference rate.
