New South Wales is home to an advanced eHealth system, with technology enabling clinicians to offer better, safer and more coordinated and efficient care to the people of this state. By harnessing the power of technology and leading the statewide eHealth strategy, eHealth NSW is making patient and other relevant information available to clinicians electronically, when and where it is needed. Building on the momentum eHealth NSW has achieved since it was established in July 2014, many of its clinical and corporate programs are delivering real benefits for NSW patients. ICT-lead investments in clinical care, business services and smart infrastructure are reshaping the way healthcare is being delivered. For clinicians this means streamlined medical care through having 24/7 access to eHealth solutions like electronic medical records and digital imaging. For patients it means better coordination of care no matter where they present or live, as well as greater control over their own health information and treatment. eHealth NSW is working hard to deliver smarter, safer healthcare - providing Australia's largest state with the capacity, flexibility and expertise to embrace technology for the benefit of its patients now and long into the future.
The CSIRO E-Health Research Program is the largest coordinated e-health research activity in Australia, spanning health services and health and biomedical informatics research, and encompassing the Australian E-Health Research Centre. CSIRO scientists work with our clinical and health service partners to improve access to health services via broadband and mobile communication platforms, develop tools for operational and clinical productivity and improve patient safety and health outcomes. CSIRO's Health Services group develop new ways of providing health services remotely. The group has recently led a number of world leading trials including the first randomised controlled mobile-health trial, Australia's largest tele-home care randomised controlled trial over the NBN and a trial of screening services to remote Australia using the NBN satellite. CSIRO is helping clinicians to do their job better with support tools for clinical decision-making. We are enabling better access to services for remote communities. We are improving the way we care for those who suffer from chronic diseases. We are developing better ways to store, manage, share and use health and patient information. With new and intelligent tools that improve the way health services are delivered we are enabling a better quality of care for all Australians.

GP2U Telehealth was founded around the idea of bridging the gaps that separate patients needing care, from the doctors who deliver that care. The idea had its roots in founder Dr James Freeman's experience working as a flying doctor. In 2004, operating out of Katherine, with hybrid technology ranging from HF radio to email to sat phones to a Super King Air turbo prop, his role there as District Medical Officer required supporting 65 remote clinics spread over a million square kilometres. This experience was seminal in demonstrating that high quality care can be delivered when patient and doctor are not in the same physical location. Since its inception in 2011, GP2U has evolved into the largest provider of telehealth services in Australia serving not only individual doctors and patients, but also corporate giants like Rio Tinto. Traditionally a patient must travel to a doctor to access medical care. There are no other options. GP2U is disrupting this paradigm using technology to invert the model, so instead of patient travelling to doctor, the doctor travels to the patient via video. Convenient, accessible, patient centric care is now as close as your phone, tablet or computer. Welcome to the 21st century.

Esendex is the leading business SMS provider in Australia. Esendex helps large and small businesses, across many industries, communicate effectively with stakeholders through an SMS messaging platform. The Esendex online platform is simple and intuitive, yet extremely powerful. Esendex also provides an industry leading API which enables third party software to be easily integrated with Esendex's SMS platform. Esendex pride themselves on an expert understanding of the needs within the healthcare industry and the importance of messages being delivered; and delivered swiftly. Having direct connections with the major networks ensures that the messages sent through Esendex will get to the handset. It is common for other SMS providers to use off-shore and grey routing. This can often be filtered which causes message failures, creating a real problem for businesses who aren't aware that their critical messages haven't reached the recipients. Esendex is also an ISO27001 accredited company, an elite qualification which is exclusive to Esendex in terms of Australian SMS providers. This provides a guarantee to customers that all of the processes and services conducted by Esendex are performed with the highest standard of data security. Esendex differ from the standard supplier model and aim to build strong relationships with their customers, which range from industry giants like BUPA to Australian small businesses. By creating business partnerships rather than customer/provider relationships, Esendex can better equip their customers to create a comprehensive communication strategy and utilise SMS to its fullest.

The organisation's five Research Groups disseminate high level research outcomes to four Business Teams - Broadband and Digital Economy, Security, Environment, and Transport and Logistics. The platform has been deployed to deliver rural speech pathology and reading assessment services, with the inclusion of digital tools such as badges, pointing fingers and sound effects to promote an interactive experience. The use of touch screens also helps foster a natural rapport between clients and specialists with independent research demonstrating that COVIUTM,'s reading assessment interface produces the same results as sessions conducted in person. Based on WebRTC, the platform uses encrypted, peer-to-peer communications and can host up to five simultaneous users.
