Prof Michael Berndt is currently Pro-Vice Chancellor Health Sciences at Curtin University, Perth, Australia. Previously, he was Director of the Biomedical Diagnostics Institute at Dublin City University and Professor of Experimental Medicine at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. Prior to this, he was Head of the College of Medicine and Health, University College Cork, Ireland and Interim Director of the Biosciences Institute, UCC. His research interests include thrombosis, inflammation, vascular biology and biomedical diagnostics. He has received numerous national and international research awards, including the Glaxo-Wellcome Medal in 1996 and a Distinguished Career Award from the International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis in 2003. He serves on several editorial boards including the journal Blood. He has published >290 papers (h-index = 70, >13,200 citations), including major international journals such as Science, Journal of Experimental Medicine and Blood. He has collaborated with several pharmaceutical companies and has filed a number of patents including one licensed to Genetics Institute (Pfizer). He was a co-founder of the ASX-listed proteomics-based biotechnology company, Cryptome Pharmaceuticals Ltd. He is currently Chair of the Executive Council of the International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis. He was Programme Chair for the XXth Congress of the International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis, Sydney, 2005 and the XVth International Vascular Biology Meeting, Sydney, 2008.

Dr Garth Herrington graduated from Medicine at Sydney University in 1995 and completed his Fellowship in Emergency Medicine in 2005. Since 2005 he has worked in many country areas in WA and has been involved in the expansion of specialist Emergency Medicine services within the state. He is currently the clinical lead for Emergency Medicine for WACHS and the Emergency Telehealth Service (ETS). The ETS began as a pilot program to provide specialist led emergency medicine via telehealth to sites within the Wheatbelt area of WA. The program is currently being expanded to provide services more widely throughout WA.

He has held positions that cover a wide range of roles including, Software Engineer and Project Director for Singapore Health Services EMR project. Previously, Stephen has also held the position of General Manager Eclipsys (Australia and Singapore) and Managing Director of The Information Group. He has a keen personal interest in clinical decision support. Stephen is a certified professional member of the Australian Computer Society and has been a long standing member of HISA. He takes an active interest in 4WDriving and the environment and he holds the voluntary position of Environment Officer at the Mitsubishi 4WD Club Of Western Australia.

After a wastrel year in Medicine, Richard trained as a teacher and holds education qualifications at bachelor and master level. His work in education at primary, secondary, VET, tertiary and post-graduate professional levels has been augmented over the years by writing, acting, senior management and organisational consultancy. Richard brings strong skills in communication, policy, strategy and advocacy to HIMAA.

Trevor Lord is has been involved in Medical Computing from the onset of the first trial of electronic medical records in 1986 - the Federally Funded Computer Assisted Practice Project. Working both with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners and then the AMA he has been on most of the major committees driving the introduction of Electronic Medical records in Australia. In 1999 he was a member of the National Electronic Health Record Taskforce that set out the Building Blocks for Electronic Medical Records. This essentially set out the road map for the National Electronic Health Transition Authority (NEHTA) to establish the Personally Controlled Electronic Health Record. He is a former Clinical Lead at NEHTA. His most exciting and hardest time has been associated with the implementation of one of the first internet electronic health information systems in Australia - in the Kimberley.

Dr Ross Nable was a research scientist/manager for 18 years, mostly with CSIRO. For the past 14 years he has held various management positions in Divisions of General Practice/Medicare Locals, at the local, state and national levels. Ross is currently leading the AML Alliance E-health team, undertaking its part of the Medicare Local E-health Change and Adoption Program.

Dr Andrew (Andy) Robertson has been the Acting Chief Information Officer within WA Health since December 2012. His substantive role since 2008 has been as the Deputy Chief Health Officer and Director, Disaster Management, Regulation and Planning within the Public Health and Clinical Services Division in WA Health. He has also covered the Executive Director, Public Health and Chief Medical Officer roles during 2012.With specialist qualifications in Public Health Medicine and Medical Administration, Dr Robertson served with the Royal Australian Navy from 1984 until 2003. In October 2003, he took up the position of the Director, Disaster Preparedness and Management in WA Health, a position that was integrated into his Divisional Director's role prior to his substantive role. In December 2004, he led the Australian Medical Relief team into the Maldives post tsunami, managed WA Health's response to the 2005 Bali bombing, led the WA Health team into Indonesia after the Yogyakarta earthquakes in June 2006 and worked as the Radiation Health Adviser to the Australian Embassy after the Fukushima nuclear incident in 2011. Since 2007, he has coordinated the WA Health responses to Cyclone George, the Varanus Island gas explosion, the Ashmore Reef incident, and the public health system aspects of the H1N1 2009 pandemic.

Richard has 35 years experience in the healthcare industry and is currently Executive Director of UnitingCare Health in Queensland, incorporating 5 private not-for-profit hospitals totalling over 1,000 beds, and employing approximately 4,000 staff. These hospitals include The Wesley and St Andrews in Brisbane, plus hospitals on the Sunshine Coast and in Maryborough and Hervey Bay. Richard has played a key role in setting UnitingCare Health’s growth strategy This has included major expansions at Wesley and St Andrews Hospitals totalling $200 million. The group is also building a new 100 bed private hospital in Hervey Bay which will be Australia’s first fully digital hospital. He has held several other senior roles in healthcare organisations, including public and private hospitals as CEO, in New South Wales and Victoria. Richard is an Adjunct Professor at Queensland University of Technology in Health Management. He is currently Vice-President of the Australian Private Hospitals Association and Chairman of their Policy and Advocacy Committee. He is also Deputy Chairman of the HESTA Superannuation Fund and is currently undertaking the role of chairing an independent review into the Personally Controlled Electronic Health Record on behalf of the Federal Minister for Health, Hon. Peter Dutton.

Louise is an innovator and a change agent who doesn't sit still and whose passion and enthusiasm for health informatics is shaping a new future for HISA. Her appointment as CEO came on the back of 10 years of experience in, and applied passion for, health informatics. With a background as an occupational therapist and a PhD on technology acceptance amongst healthcare professionals, Louise is a world leader in allied health informatics and is intimately connected to Australia's substantial health reform efforts, where e-health is a key enabler to achieving high quality, safe, sustainable and patient-centred care. In addition to her leadership of HISA, Louise is on the Advisory Board for Stanford Medicine X 2013 conference, has been part of NEHTA's Clinical Leads team and previously chaired the E-Health International Advisory Group of the World Federation of Occupational Therapists.

Christy has spent much of her working career acquiring experience around her passion for the provision of a quality health service culminating in the launch of Compass Health. Christy's experience within the cardiology department of a major teaching hospital, her background as a career ambulance paramedic in remote and rural locations coupled with her exposure to various business cultures and widely divergent professionals ensures her comfort level in working alongside some of the world's largest mining, engineering and oil and gas providers. Christy's previous role as Operations Director for Dynamiq saw her work hand in hand with clients such as Rio Tinto, Chevron, Woodside and BHP to ensure that their requirements are understood, evaluated and that a solution is implemented as part of a systematic approach underpinned by strong quality and safety systems. Christy has a Bachelor of Paramedical Science from Edith Cowan University, an Advanced Diploma in Health Science and numerous other professional qualifications including Quality Systems Auditing. Christy is considered a subject matter expert by industry and her peers in the field of remote medical services management.

Brendan Lovelock is the Health Industry Practice Lead for Cisco Australia. In this role, Brendan is responsible for developing transformative technology solutions and services that help facilitate communication and collaboration among healthcare professionals and staff to deliver safe, affordable and accessible healthcare. Prior to this role, Brendan was the CEO of the Health Informatics Society of Australia, where he had a focus on consumer health technologies and the changing care processes in Australia. Brendan has an extensive background in business management and technology commercialisation, having held senior executive positions with Telstra and Eastman Kodak, both in Australia and internationally. He has also managed a number of smaller Australian software companies, delivering reporting and business management systems into the telecommunications and technology services markets. He is currently the Chair of the Digital Hospital Design Special Interest Group within the Health Informatics Society of Australia (HISA).
