Predicting the risk of chronic disease: A framework based on graph theory and social network analysis
Our research focuses on understanding chronic disease progression and then predicting risk based on this understanding which can potentially prevent hospital admission due to undiagnosed chronic disease. It adopts a data mining perspective utilising hospital admission data (administrative data), which carries rich semantic information about the patients’ overall health status and diagnosis information.

Using ICD code descriptors to cluster hospital admissions in clinically related groups
We represent admissions by the concatenation of the associated ICD code descriptors. We then apply a text mining method (“topic modelling”) to cluster admissions in interpretable groups defined by few key clinical terms.
