The challenges of diversity within Australia’s ageing population
This event features the ageing population and the needs and impact on society, including cultural diversity in our older population, and diversity within the baby boomers.
Registration Fees
This event is free for HISA and ACS members and $25.00 for non-members.

Program
Ageing population and the needs and impact on society: Understanding diversity to support an ageing population
Dr Helen Feist Acting Director, Australian Population and Migration Research Centre, University of Adelaide
Helen represents the Australian Population and Migration Research Centre in the national collaborative research group, the 'International Longevity Centre-Australia' (ILC-Aus) as part of the ILC Global Alliance. Helen is also is an elected board member of the Australian Association of Gerontology’s (AAG) and is the immediate past president of the SA Division of the AAG. She is also actively involved in the Australian Population Association, the Institute of Australian Geographers and the International Federation of Ageing.
Helen has published and presented extensively on her research interests in field of gerontology with a focus on ageing in place, community connectedness and social networks. Her work has also encompassed intergenerational family ties, ageing and migration, age friendly cities, migrant settlement in rural and regional Australia and demographic change the changing demography of Australia’s population, in particular the diversity in our ageing population and the implications of this for society, communities and service provision.
Following the presentation there will be general discussion on ageing and the implications and opportunities for health informatics.
AGM
South Australia has a growing community of e-health and health informatics proponents, leaders and experts. Our branch of HISA continues to attract a diverse and influential audience across the spectrum of health. HISA SA members will be invited to participate in the HISA SA AGM. We hope all HISA members in South Australia will be able to take part following the presentations.

Parking
There are no public parks available within the SAHMRI Building. There are a large number of free 1 hour/2 hour (non-ticketed) car parks available in the City West End of Adelaide. These include on Hindley Street itself, or on the streets running between North Terrace and Hindley Street; a short walk to SAHMRI. I. Liverpool Street II. Gray Street (which has a number of Two Hour free street car parks) III. and Newmarket Street (and Rose Street) located immediately behind the Newmarket Hotel (last street on left as you come down North Terrace, just before West Terrace).
