The Lab and e-health technology and HISA ACT AGM
Dr Leif Hanlen will give an in-depth overview of The Lab and how it fits within the University’s health hub. He will then demonstrate some of NICTA’s e-health technology. This includes webRTC ‘virtual counter’, SnoMed Text encoder and the speech-to-text nursing handover technology.
The Lab is designed with user-driven innovation at its heart. It is placed in a tertiary GP clinic, called the ‘Health Hub’ that comprises Ochre Health Medical Centre (a national health care partner in 22 locations through NSW, ACT and QLD), University of Canberra Faculty of Health Teaching Clinic, Laverty Pathology, Capital Chemist and Canberra Imaging. The Health Hub combines general practice with allied health and diagnostic services including fixed and mobile student led allied health clinics and teaching spaces. The Lab aims to identify ways in which healthcare can be improved through the innovative use of ICT. Pooling resources and knowledge with our collaborators and working closely with clinicians, patients, SME’s, students and researchers will enable The Lab to effectively address existing issues throughout healthcare, drive innovation, and incorporate ICT into the fabric of medical training and the healthcare industry.
