HISA ACT AGM & Presentation on Bloodnet
Australia's online blood ordering and inventory management system
Special guest speaker:
Peter O'Halloran
A/g Deputy General Manager, Stewardship
National Blood Authority
Presentation
BloodNet - A national supply chain system that users actually like
Processing in excess of 1 million units of blood and blood
products annually, BloodNet is in use in over 400 hospitals and pathology
laboratories across Australia 24/7. BloodNet enables hospitals and
pathology laboratories to order their blood and blood products and the data
from the system is used in real-time to manage Australia’s supply of blood and
blood products.
Deploying a critical national system across the
continent in public, private and hybrid facilities without a government mandate
that it "must” be implemented is not something for the faint hearted. Hear how
the National Blood Authority has implemented such a system, their successes and
failures and the plans for the system over the coming years as direct
interfaces into hospital Laboratory Information Systems are implemented.
