The Health Informatics Society of Australia (NSW branch) educational on 14 April 2011 centred on the issue of Electronic Discharge summaries and referrals.

The event featured Rosemary Richman from the Sydney and South West Sydney Local Health Networks and Fran Vaughan from the Sydney Adventist Hospital. Both presentations provided interesting accounts about the challenges, hard work and planning involved in achieving successful implementation. Among the key lessons highlighted by the speakers was the importance of continuous quality improvement, work practice change management and the value of encouraging a culture of support, training and education.
