AI Governance: Ethics, Innovation and Trust in Health

Hosted by the AIDH SA Branch Committee

Artificial intelligence is rapidly transforming healthcare, offering unprecedented opportunities for innovation in hospitals and health services. However, the integration of AI into clinical workflows raises complex questions concerning ethics, safety and broader governance. This session features Dr Melissa McCradden, Dr Sam Gluck and Paul Lambert, leading figures in SA regarding health technology implementation and patient ethics. The session aims to explore how comprehensive governance can facilitate the responsible adoption of AI-enabled innovations in hospitals. Topics will include incorporating ethical principles into system design, ensuring adherence to regulatory standards, mitigating bias and maintaining public trust. Through practical examples, our speakers will discuss their current work and examine strategies for integrating AI in ways that enhance patient care and improve clinical efficiency. South Australia has been a leading jurisdiction for AI implementation, with Melissa, Sam and Paul integral in the state’s progress.
