Sparked FHIR Accelerator - A patient data story from point of care to population health: a case study

This webinar will cover the transformative journey of patient data, showcasing how it can flow from initial capture at the point of care to its reuse, improving patient care and clinical experience through to its use in population health management. Emphasising alignment with national interoperability data standards being developed through the Sparked Accelerator, this session is crucial for professionals aiming to enhance data integration and analytics in healthcare.

Michael Hosking - Deputy Lead, Sparked, CSIRO - Australian e-Health Research Centre
An experienced leader with over ten years of expertise in digital health and a clinical background. Specialising in digital health policy, strategy, health IT standards, clinical informatics, product development, design and delivery, innovation, workforce development, change management, digital transformation and organisational culture change

Kylynn Loi - Department Specialist | Product Specialist, CSIRO - Australian e-Health Research Centre
Team Leader and clinical terminologist working on improving Primary Care Data quality with standards, Queensland Health SNOMED CT implementations and analytics with clinical terminology.

Vicki Bennett - Manager | Head of Department - Australian Institute of Health and Welfare (AIHW)
Vicki is the Head of the Pacific Health Information and Classification Support Unit at the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare. She has a degree in Health Information Management, and a Masters in Health Informatics and has had a diverse career both domestically and internationally. She has worked extensively across the Pacific over the past 20 years. She is a member of the Universal Health Coverage Technical Advisory Group for the WHO Western Pacific Region, an Advisor to the Pacific Health Information Network Board and is currently the President of the International Federation of Health Information Management Associations.


Liam Barnes - Senior Experimental Scientist, CSIRO - Australian e-Health Research Centre
Liam is a clinical data modeler and terminologist. He has extensive experience in health informatics, in particular the FHIR standard and SNOMED CT. Liam has been involved in national programs such as the National Clinical Terminology Service and has expert knowledge in FHIR-based forms and data capture solutions.


John Grimes - Principal Research Consultant, CSIRO - Australian e-Health Research Centre
John works at the Australian e-Health Research Centre, CSIRO and is an expert in the use of FHIR and clinical terminology within the area of health data analytics. John is the creator of Pathling, an open-source tool for large-scale FHIR data transformation and query. John is also part of the working group that authored the SQL on FHIR standard.
