Australian Digital Health Agency
National Digital Health Strategy Consultation
The Australian Digital Health Agency is tasked with putting together a National Digital Health Strategy that builds on the achievements of the current Strategy, but also recognises the areas that need further development and the changes in the health
landscape most notably through the pandemic. Whilst the Agency is tasked with developing the Strategy, it is however a Strategy for all Australians.
During 2021 the Agency ran a consultation process to inform the draft Strategy through variety of ways that involved an online survey, dedicated meetings, workshops and forums, and written submissions. The consultation provided a comprehensive evidence
base of the needs and expectations of over 8,000 consumers and health care providers as well as leading peak organisations and health care provider groups.
The draft Strategy also draws from Australian and international research and best practice of digital health innovation and adoption, jurisdictional and other key stakeholders’ digital health and health strategies; national health policies and agreements;
discussions across the Agency; and lessons learned from the current Strategy.
In presenting to the AIDH, the Agency is keen to hear feedback from Australia’s leading health informatics and digital health leaders and practitioners on the draft Strategy and namely the four health system outcomes enhanced by digital health and the
catalyst for change that accompany them.
Health system outcomes enhanced by digital health
- Australians can look after their health and wellbeing.
- Australians have access to health services that meet their needs.
- Health and wellbeing services deliver coordinated, consumer centred care.
- Australians benefit from population health evidence and decision-making
Catalysts for change.
- Informed consumers and carers with strong digital health literacy.
- A digitally capable health and wellbeing workforce
- Modern, fit for purpose and interoperable digital technologies and systems.
- Settings that cultivate development, adoption, use and innovation
