Digital health: Where to from here?
Digital health is now taking centre stage, and has the potential for overcoming many of the health related problems faced by Governments and the people. Our recent work in digital techniques to detect and monitor Parkinson’s disease and Glaucoma attracted a lot of media attention. However, during the media interviews, there was one reporter who asked- How does your app differentiate from the thousands of medical apps that are around that no one uses?
Then, there is the issue of- what is the IP in a software based medical device? Who owns it?
Another question that springs out is- who is liable if the SBMD causes harm to the patient? And, then there are also the issues of ethics and need for transparency. And, how to obtain the certification from statutory bodies such as TGA and FDA?
Dinesh will discuss these matters and hopes for an interactive session.
