Dr George Margelis Independent Chair, ACIITC
Dr George Margelis is a medical practitioner who has been deeply involved in technology for the last 30 years. Originally trained as an optometrist, he started tinkering with computers before going back to medical school. He worked with Intel in 2005, was appointed Adjunct Associate Professor at the University of Western Sydney in 2013 and in 2014, was appointed to the IT in Aged Care Hall of Fame for his work in the use of technology in aged care.
Dr Isobel Frean CHIA Senior Consultant, Digital Health CRC
Dr Isobel Frean is a Senior Consultant at the Digital Health Cooperative Research Centre, where she is responsible for driving the aged care flagship program of translational and transformational research. Isobel joined the DHCRC in October 2019. Prior to this she has worked in strategic and operational roles in private and public health and social care sectors in the UK, Australia and New Zealand. She has worked clinically as a nurse in England, Scotland, USA and Australia. Isobel has a particular passion for clinical data modelling and the need to fast track interoperability between aged care and the broader healthcare ecosystem. Isobel is a Certified Health Informatician Australasia (CHIA) and a member of the AIDH Victorian Branch.
Siegi Schmidmaier Executive Director SA, Silver Chain Group
Siegi is a leader and strategist in healthcare focused on creating new projects and business units that introduce new technology, innovation and a commercial focus to the traditional hospital and medical technology setting. Currently working as Executive Director SA, Strategic Developments and Partnerships with the Silver Chain Group, she works to deliver innovations and business improvements to Silver Chain Group’s integrated health and home-based aged care service delivery and operations. With a broad background across government policy working with Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet, into international health care consulting, to politics, to hospital and medical research strategy and now leadership and Board Directorship roles. Siegi has experience in navigating complex projects, mange risks, stakeholders and political dynamics. In addition to credentials in strategic positioning, policy development, complex project delivery and stakeholder management, Siegi is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, Master of Science (Public Health), Bachelor of Nursing, and has a Graduate Diploma of Project Management.
A/Prof Paul Cooper FAIDH CHIA (Facilitator) Faculty of Health, School of Medicine, Deakin University
Paul is an independent consultant specialising in Digital Health, and workshop and event facilitation. Building on his early career research with a Ph.D in Biochemistry, his current activities focus particularly on digital health. He is a co-organiser of the Melbourne meetup group AI-in-Healthcare, is Deputy Chair of Biogrid, serves on the Victorian branch of AIDH and on the AIDH Precision Health Community of Practice. His 40 year career path includes research, government, private sector and tertiary education.
