Mental health matters: Looking after ourselves and those who look after us
Hosted by the ACT state branch
Anyone who has completed a first aid course knows the ‘DRABC’ of first aid - when providing first aid, the first priority is to check for danger. That is, check for danger to yourself and others so that, as a first aider, you yourself are not at risk
of injury. While 'danger' in a first aid context is usually conceived as an external threat, for those providing care, danger can lurk within in the form of risks to mental health.
The COVID-19 pandemic has subjected Australia's workforce to heightened levels of stress. Healthcare professionals, public health workers and the health sector in general has faced extraordinary hardships at the coalface of this health crisis. A greater
focus needs to be placed on how we look after ourselves, those we love, and those that look after us.
Speakers at this event will identify some of the mental health lessons learned from the COVID-19 crisis and discuss how a focus on the Quadruple Aim framework's "joy of work" offers a guiding principle for fostering a healthy and happy workforce. We also
consider the role that digital health can play in identifying, managing, and improving mental health.
Presentations will be followed by virtual end of year drinks! Stay online and join us for this informal event to network and catch up with your AIDH ACT tribe!
