FbT Journal Club - May 2021
Diabetes and digital apps
mHealth for diabetes has been progressing rapidly since the smartphone revolution with several diabetes or diabetes-related apps now available for download. While there is emerging evidence for clinical benefits, there remain significant challenges in its use. Integration into real-world clinical practice has lagged behind the app development. This paper discusses the benefits, challenges and suggests the way forward which might be relevant for other chronic diseases as well.
