Population health: Pandemics and geospatial mapping of the future

The session will feature three significant projects that contribute to public health and epidemiological analysis.

Dr Nasser Bagheri is a Senior Research Fellow and spatial epidemiologist at the Australian National University (ANU). He focusses on health care ecosystem and chronic disease risk assessment, particularly, mental health, cardiovascular disease (CVD), diabetes, dementia, and Multiple Sclerosis with a particular interest in geo-spatial analysis and modelling, and quantifying the impact of modifiable risk factors including lifestyle and contextual factors on chronic disease.

Prof. Kaarin Anstey is a Senior Principal Research Scientist and Fellow of the Academy of the Social Sciences in Australia. The PATH Through Life project is a 20 year longitudinal cohort study of 7,485 young (aged 20–24 at baseline), midlife (aged 40–44 at baseline) and older (aged 60–64 at baseline) adults randomly sampled from the electoral roll of the Australian Capital Territory and the nearby city of Queanbeyan.

Esri is an international supplier of a geographic information system software, web GIS and geodatabase management applications. The use of Esri services is used at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine to produce the widely accessed COVID-19 Map.
