Cybersecurity across healthcare - securing health networks and data across the service network
Leading up to the end of year HISA brings an Innovating Health Series Breakfast on the topic of CyberSecurity in healthcare. As healthcare becomes increasingly digitised and connected, organisations are collaborating and sharing data more and more within the system — service providers, payers, device companies, equipment manufacturers to name a few. However, those connections increase risk. Through these collaborations, organisations are extending, and absorbing, the risk and vulnerabilities of their ecosystem partners.
Yet most businesses still look at cybersecurity as strictly an individual effort.
It’s an especially tough spot for healthcare organistions because unlike in other industries, they sometimes don’t have a choice about with whom they collaborate and transact. It’s a mandate.
This heightened level of exposure is good news for the “bad guys” who view ecosystems as an ever-widening attack surface. Healthcare organisations must, in response, evolve their approach and stand up a stronger security posture that factors in a broader ecosystem and their partners. New models and policies must ensure that the partners and third parties joining the ecosystem adhere to the same standard of security—or higher—that they set for themselves.
Join a range of health and industry experts for a panel discussion on this topical issue. It will be an opportunity to connect and network with peers and others working across the health system before the close of the year.
