Nursing Informatics Australia (NIA), a special interest group of HISA, is pleased to invite you to participate in NIA 2019, Australia’s Nursing Informatics Conference, to be held in Melbourne on Sunday 11 August 2019. This year’s theme is Nursing career paths in digital health.

NIA 2019 is Australia’s only dedicated event featuring nursing informatics presentations – AND it has an impressive 25+ year history!

Nursing informatics: Nursing career paths in digital health 

As the pre-eminent national professional organisation for nurse informaticians, NIA is inviting nurses and midwives from all health care settings to submit an abstract addressing this year’s conference theme.

Nursing informaticians have a unique leadership role to ensure a digitally enabled health system delivers on the promise of better health outcomes for Australians. Nursing is the largest single profession in the healthcare workforce and provides continuous care to patients during inpatient stays and to consumers within community and primary healthcare settings. The role of nurses in the digital health environment has the potential to not only deliver improvements in efficiency and patient outcomes, but also in facilitating improved consumer and clinician experience.

Digital Health can be an enabler of improved safety and quality of health care and there is a clear need to identify areas where establishing nursing informatics roles will contribute to and enhance the digital health experience across the continuum for patients, nurses and all clinicians.

You are invited and encouraged to submit abstracts where the following can be incorporated, but is not limited to:

• Tips and experiences for getting involved in digital health
• The future workforce – what will it look like?
• What’s in digital health for me?
• Experiences of digital health education and did it change your work?
• What do organisations and nursing colleagues expect from their digital health experts?
