Clinical UX - focused on delighting 😊
Perspectives and experience from two doctors
User Experience (UX) in health has always been important but more so now with digital transformation of healthcare. Issues that manifest from poor UX include: frustration; work arounds, time delays, errors and omissions, poor job satisfaction, doctor burnout, poor alignment with clinical workflow, bad-mouthing products. At this event you will hear the perspectives and experience from two doctors who have faced the challenges, gained the buy-in and achieved success in delighting!

Antimicrobial prescribing in the Emergency Department is driven by clinical experience, local and state guidelines. Evidence shows that in some cases, we continue to treat too broadly and invasively, leading to some patients needing an unnecessary admission for IV antibiotics, when oral antibiotics are non-inferior; or using not using narrower spectrum antibiotics where possible, contributing to resistance. Guidelines also change and there is a significant lag period between key findings and translation to practice.
This current project uses design thinking to develop a responsive web application for clinicians to optimise safe prescribing at the point of care. |
