US Health Informatics Tour
Dr Jen Bichel-Findlay, Director Digital Health and Innovation in the Faculty of Health, UTS recently visited three US universities that provide health informatics or data science courses – Northwestern University in Chicago, Texas Medical Center in Houston, and Columbia University in New York City. She will provide an overview of these courses, how they are offered and how her US academic colleagues approach the curriculum challenges.
Highlights of AMIA conference
Dr Jen Bichel-Findlay from University of Technology Sydney and Dr Simon Poon from the University of Sydney both attended last year’s American Medical Informatics Association (AMIA) Annual Scientific meeting, held in Washington DC in November. They will provide an overview of the meeting themes, as well as personal insights gained from individual sessions.
Usability in the age of avatars, agents and AI
Dr Chris Bain from Monash University will take the audience through some core concepts around usability and it’s bedfellow -user experience (UX), and will discuss what good usability and UX are thought to look like in the setting of more cutting edge technologies (like AI), with new interaction paradigms (like voice interaction). Chris will also touch on how good outcomes in this space can be achieved.
