Dr Mike Bainbridge, Adjunct Professor Clinical Informatics, University of British Columbia, Canada
Dr Bainbridge has been a leading figure in Clinical Informatics for 25 years working both for UK Government and Industry. He has designed and brought to market Clinical Computer Systems for Primary Care. He worked with both BMA and Government in the 2003 negotiation of the IT elements of the current General Practitioner Contract in the UK. He recently led the Clinical Architecture and Assistive Technology teams at NHS Connecting for Health (NHS CFH UK) delivering innovations in hardware design, clinical interface design and interfaces for the both professionals and citizens to the electronic medical record. He continues to 'evangelise' safety and usability from Open Common Interface Components in both his consulting and academic roles. He is currently working is with NEHTA in Sydney on the Implementation of e-health to support Healthcare Reform.

Regina Holliday, Patient Artist Advocate, The Walking Gallery
Regina Holliday is a patient rights arts advocate. Regina began painting a series of murals depicting the need for clarity and transparency in medical records. This advocacy mission was inspired by her husband Frederick Allen Holliday II and his struggle to get appropriate care during 11 weeks of continuous hospitalistion at 5 facilities. After his death resulting from kidney cancer on June 17, 2009, she began painting a mural entitled "73 cents." It depicts the Holliday family's journey through the medical system. Regina also paints on the concepts discussed at medical conferences and presents them through a patients view. In addition she began a health advocacy movement called "The Walking Gallery." Prof Cliff Hughes AO, Chief Executive Officer, Clinical Excellence Commission
Professor Cliff Hughes is the Chief Executive Officer of the Clinical Excellence Commission, a statutory health corporation established in 2004 to build capacity and design programmes to promote and support improvement in quality and safety for health services across NSW. This appointment follows a 25 year career as a Cardiothoracic Surgeon in Sydney. Professor Hughes has been Chairman or member of numerous committees associated with quality, safety and research in clinical practice for health care services. He held various positions in the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, and he has a particular passion for patient based care, better incident management, quality improvement programmes and development of clinical leaders.

Rajiv Mehta, Co-organiser, Quantified Self & President, Bhageera Consulting
Rajiv Mehta's current efforts are focused on developing human-centric technologies to empower individuals and family social networks to better understand and manage their own health. He is also a co-organizer of the Quantified Self, a global movement of people using and creating tools for self-tracking and self-learning. Rajiv is an experienced entrepreneur and executive, with 25 years of experience leading disruptive technologies and new business creation for Adobe, Apple, Interval Research, NASA, Symbol Technologies and several startups, after studying at Princeton, Stanford and Columbia. He advises firms seeking to leverage self-tracking technologies or serve the personal care and self-tracking markets.

Prof Lucila Ohno-Machado, Associate Dean for Informatics and Technology, University of California San Diego
Lucila Ohno-Machado, MD, PhD is Associate Dean for Informatics and Technology at the School of Medicine, University of California San Diego, founding chief of the Division of Biomedical Informatics and Professor of Medicine. She received her medical degree from the University of Sao Paulo and her doctoral degree in medical information sciences and computer science from Stanford. She leads a group of biomedical informatics faculty with diverse backgrounds in biomedicine, and quantitative sciences. Dr. Ohno-Machado is an elected fellow of the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering and of the American College of Medical Informatics, American Society for Clinical Investigation, and Editor-In-Chief for the Journal of the American Medical Informatics Association (AMIA).

Dr Nigel Millar, Chief Medical Officer, Canterbury District Health Board, NZ
As part of the Executive Management Team, he provides advice to the Board and management on clinical governance and clinical standards, and provides strategic leadership and professional support for clinical staff in hospitals and community services. Nigel also spends about 30% of his time involved in clinical work at The Princess Margaret and Christchurch Hospitals. Specialising in geriatric and general medicine, Nigel is a graduate from the University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne. He is also a Fellow of InterRAI International and the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (Medical Administrators)

Prof Carol Pollock, Chair Northern Sydney Local Health District
Professor Carol Pollock trained as a specialist in Renal Medicine, and gained her PhD in renal physiology in 1992. She was appointed to the Professorial Chair of Medicine, University of Sydney, Royal North Shore Hospital in 2000. She is inaugural Chairman of the Board of the Northern Sydney Local Health District, which has oversight of 6 hospitals and the health of 1.7 million people in New South Wales. She is immediate past Chair, and currently serves on the Boards of the NSW Clinical Excellence Commission and the NSW Agency for Clinical Innovation. She is the Chairman of Research for the Northern Health District and Associate Director of the Kolling Institute of Medical Research. She has published over 180 papers in the scientific literature. She was twice awarded the Australian and New Zealand Society of Nephrology (ANZSN) Young Investigator Award and in 2001 was awarded the highest scientific recognition of the ANZSN, the TJ Neale award. She has previously been a member of the NSW Ministerial Advisory Council for Science and Medical Research and regularly serves on the National Health and Medical Research Council Committees, both as a member and panel Chairman. She has been a member of the Executive Committee of the International Society of Nephrology and is the Scientific Chairman of the World Congress of Nephrology meeting to be held in Hong Kong in 2013. She serves on the Board of several not-for-profit organisations in the Health and Medical Research sector.

Dr Scot Silverstein, Adjunct Professor of Healthcare Informatics, Drexel University
Dr Scot Silverstein grew up in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He received his BA and MD at Boston University. He completed a postdoctoral fellowship in Medical Informatics at Yale School of Medicine, and then joined their faculty. He then took a CMIO role in a 1000+ bed medical center in Delaware, and was director of the science libraries and of The Merck Index at pharmaceutical company Merck & Co., Inc. He is currently at Drexel University's College of Information Science & Technology, Philadelphia. He architected Drexel's Graduate Certificate Program in informatics for healthcare professionals as well as students pursuing information systems and LIS degrees.

Mike Woods, Deputy Chairman, Productivity Commission
Mike Woods was appointed as Deputy Chairman in 2008, and prior to that, was a Commissioner with the Productivity Commission since its inception in 1998. Mike has presided on a wide range of inquiries and studies including: Caring for Older Australians; Nursing Home Subsidies; Australian Health Workforce; Trends in Aged Care; and Social Capital: Reviewing the Concept and its Policy Implications. Mike was formerly the Secretary of the Treasury for the Australian Capital Territory and has also held senior executive positions in the ACT, Commonwealth and Northern Territory public services in the fields of economic policy, public finance and health.

Prof Enrico Coiera, Foundation Chair in Medical Informatics, University of NSW
Professor Coiera is the Foundation Chair in Medical Informatics within the Faculty of Medicine at the University of NSW. He is the Director of the Centre for Health Informatics, a part of the newly formed Australian Institute for Health Innovation at UNSW. Professor Coiera's research is concerned with advancing the safety and quality of health care through the use of information technology. He has recently broadened his interest to supporting consumers in making decisions about their health care, as well as focusing on the broader challenges of health system redesign.

Peter Fleming, CEO, NEHTA
Mr Peter Fleming is the Chief Executive Officer of the National E-Health Transition Authority (NEHTA) appointed in 2008. In that time he has led Australia's vision for eHealth, delivering the foundations that will enable more integrated healthcare for Australians.Of equal importance, Peter has shaped NEHTA to effectively pursue the National eHealth Strategy devised by Australian Health Ministers in 2008 to guide national co-ordination and collaboration in eHealth.Most recently, NEHTA has been appointed managing agent for the delivery of the Australian Government's electronic health record system.

Dr Stephen Hambleton, President, Australian Medical Association
Dr Steve Hambleton was elected Federal President of the Australian Medical Association (AMA) in May 2011, after serving a two-year term as Federal Vice President. He graduated from the University of Queensland in 1984 and has been working at the same general practice at Kedron in Brisbane since 1988. Dr Hambleton has been the AMA representative on various committees. He is currently the Chair of the AMA Indigenous Taskforce and also serves on the Practice Incentive Program Advisory Group. Dr Hambleton is a principal of Continuous Care Medical Centres, and become State Director of Foundation HealthCare in 2001.

Matthew Holt, Co-Chairman, Health 2.0
Matthew Holt has spent around 20 years in health care as a researcher, generalist forecaster, and strategist. He learned from some of the best in forecasting, policy and survey organizations, like Institute for the Future and Harris Interactive. But these days he's best known as the author of The Health Care Blog and as Co-Chairman of Health 2.0. For that he's been mostly self-taught!

Dr Iltifat Husain, Founder, Editor-in-chief, iMedicalApps
Iltifat Husain, MD is the founder and Editor-in-chief of iMedicalApps.com, the leading mobile medical publication run exclusively by practicing physicians. He is currently an Emergency Medicine resident physician at Wake Forest University School of Medicine. He is passionate about studying the fusion between mobile and medicine.

Joanna Smith, Research Support Manager, Silver Chain Nursing Associate Inc
Joanna Smith has a Bachelor of Psychology and has worked in Silver Chain's Research Department for the last thirteen years. She commenced as a Senior Research officer and was appointed Research Support Manager in 2010. Joanna has undertaken many research projects and collaborations, including evaluations of services, health needs analyses, analysis of linked health data and the development and testing of new service models such as telehealth technology for home care clients with chronic disease.

Prof Stephen Leeder, Professor of Public Health and Community Medicine, University of Sydney
Stephen Leeder is a professor of public health and community medicine at the University of Sydney and is a Director of the Menzies Centre for Health Policy and Chair of the board of the Western Sydney Local Health District. He has a long history of involvement in public health research, educational development and policy. His research interests as a clinical epidemiologist have been mainly asthma and cardiovascular disease. He was Dean of the Medical Faculty at the University of Sydney during which time he oversaw the implementation of a new graduate educational program and the formation of an extensive rural education network for medical students.

Prof Fernando Martin-Sanchez, Chair of Health Informatics Melbourne Medical School, The University of Melbourne
Professor Martin-Sanchez is a biomedical information scientist. He is the foundational Chair of Health Informatics at the University of Melbourne's Medical School. A former director of a world-renowned laboratory in Medical Bioinformatics at the National Institute of Health of Spain, he played a key role in promoting research on Biomedical Informatics across the European Commission VI and VII Framework Programmes.

Adam McLeod, Director of Strategy & E-health, Inner East Melbourne Medicare Local
Adam McLeod is the Director of Strategy & eHealth at Inner East Melbourne Medicare Local, overseeing the rollout of the Wave1 PCEHR program in Eastern Melbourne. Adam has managed large scale implementations in Community Health and Hospital Networks. He is a Registered Nurse and holds a Masters of Health Informatics.

Jenny O'Brien, Clinical Information Officer, Epworth HealthCare
Jenny O'Brien is the Chief Clinical Information Officer at Epworth HealthCare, Victoria's largest not-for-profit private health care group. Jenny's experience relative to digital healthcare includes an ICU nursing background, former CIO appointment in a public tertiary teaching hospital, a Graduate Diploma of Applied Information Systems and a Churchill Scholarship to develop an understanding of how bedside computing technology has supported improved healthcare quality, efficiency and safety of patient care. Jenny is currently completing a Masters in Law.

Lee Ridoutt, Director, Human Capital Alliance
Lee Ridoutt is the Director of HCA. Lee is a strategic planner specialising in the health sector and in human resources. Lee has specific skills in working with, managing and analysing health sector problems, in particular through the design and evaluation of workforce interventions to overcome service delivery problems. He has extensive health service and organisational evaluation research experience, underpinned by a philosophy espousing primacy of customer needs in assessing the appropriateness of service delivery.

David Roffe, Chief Information Officer, St Vincents & Mater Health Sydney
After completing his Electrical Engineering degree and Masters degree in Biomedical Engineering, David started his career as a research and development engineer specialising in Cardiology and Intensive Care. In 1997 David joined the Sisters of Charity Health Service which own the St Vincent's Group of Public and Private hospitals. His role as Chief Information Officer was to integrate the three NSW based IT departments, manage a cultural change process and develop the organisations new IC&T vision and strategy. David's passion is to support clinicians to provide better practice patient care by the pragmatic application of engineering and computer science. The St Vincent's Darlinghurst Campus has been using an electronic clinical information system for over 10 years and is a Wave 2 site for the Commonwealth PCEHR Project.

David Rowlands, Managing Director, Direkt Consulting
David Rowlands is Managing Director of Direkt Consulting, which specialises in eHealth, standards, information and performance improvement. He has undertaken a variety of senior roles in the health sector over the last 25 years including health service management, planning and performance management, organisational change, informatics and corporate services. He has a strong commitment to health system improvement through informatics.

Greg Wells, Chief Information Officer, NSW Health
As Chief Information Officer of NSW Health, Greg Wells is leading the way in many key ICT projects including the development of NSW Health Infrastructure and eHealth capabilities. As a Senior Manager for Accenture Australia's Government Practice, Greg has an excellent record in ICT delivery. With in-depth government experience in the education and health sectors, Greg has worked within the Asia Pacific region with organisations such as Queensland Health, NSW Department of Education, University of NSW and the Singapore Ministry of Education.

Dr John Zelcer, Head of Strategy, NEHTA
As NEHTA's Head of Strategy, John's role is to oversee NEHTA's corporate strategy, support the organisation's operational alignment to the strategy and help guide internal departmental strategic planning. In addition his teams have responsibility for the Programme Management Office and for NEHTA's work in Benefits Realisation and in Compliance, Conformance and Accreditation. John is a medical practitioner and corporate strategy advisor whose background includes clinical and academic medicine, strategy management consulting and senior executive management roles in Australia and the United States.
