Digital health - striving for innovation

Innovation is the buzz for 2016!!

Australia’s recent National Innovation & Science Agenda stated: “It’s not just about new ideas, products and business models; innovation is also about creating a culture where we embrace risk, move quickly to back good ideas and learn from mistakes.” Initiatives under this Agenda include the $250million Biomedical Translation Fund.

Already, the growth of digital businesses and consumer technology is revolutionising how people work, creating new growth industries and businesses. In healthcare, underpinning this potential are great advancements in genomics and bio-technologies, together with growth of biometrics, wearable devices and mobile apps supporting personal health and wellness. The ubiquitous uptake of these technologies by consumers is forging opportunities around data triaging and analysis to support better healthcare delivery.

How can the healthcare sector take advantage of this innovation focus and goodwill to better connect practitioners and services to patients and consumers? Can integrated digital platforms leverage information from a variety of sources including wearable sensors to facilitate healthcare delivery that is personalised, predictive, preventative and enable patient centred outcomes and research?

HISA in partnership with HealthTech Sydney invite you to a night where digital health and striving for innovation in healthcare is explored.
• How can the healthcare sector benefit from these new and innovative technologies?
• How can innovative solutions integrate into broader healthcare systems?
• What is the role of the consumer and personal records including personal bio-metrics?
• What is the future for the clinician and patient interaction and improving patient experience?
• Are there smart digital solutions that improve clinical workflow to improve efficiencies and quality of care outcomes?

Innovation saves lives. Innovation is helping healthcare providers gaining incredible insight, work faster and work smarter. It’s helping them provide a personalised service to every patient and improve outcomes. Zebra Technologies’ Amy Kwong will be sharing examples of how some healthcare organisations from across the globe are using simple innovations that can be rolled out in Australia not in the distant future but today. Learn about how Bluetooth and Beacons are helping minimise the tissue damage caused by heart attacks for patients in the Netherlands (and how doctors there are competing on Twitter to get the best door-to-balloon times). Explore how swapping handwritten wristbands for barcoded ones can ensure patient safety and eradicate patient misidentification while auto-updating records. Find out how the technology in your pocket is helping patients be monitored by nurses from the opposite side of the hospital.

Amy Kwong ANZ Specialist for Healthcare Technology Solutions, Zebra Technologies
Zebra offers technologies that give a virtual voice to an organisation's assets, people and transactions, enabling health and aged-care providers to offer better care and unlock greater business value. Zebra’s solutions mean greater accuracy of information and allow organisations to make better informed decisions. Its innovations lead to increased operational efficiency by connecting caregivers and streamlining workflows while tracking patient progress, equipment, facilities and costs effectively. Amy Kwong is Zebra’s ANZ Specialist for Healthcare Technology Solutions, and is responsible for helping healthcare staff and administration gain the real-time visibility they require to make the best decisions in all areas of their facility. Kwong manages the account for Australia’s largest private hospital company and won the national Patient Identification Solution contract, achieving product roll-out to a network of 45 hospitals for a leading hospital group. Working in partnership with one of Australia’s largest IT suppliers, Kwong finalised an agreement with a major medical client resulting in the rollout of several thousand of Zebra’s printers across Australia. Kwong came to Zebra following a notable career in IT Management that culminated in supporting 350+ team members across a national network with multiple manufacturing, distribution and office locations. She is based in Zebra’s Sydney, Australia office.
